One aggregator has listed December 3, which is why the official page matters. The broadcast is around 8 p.m. The tree is lit just before 10 p.m. Those are two different moments.

If you want to be on foot near the plaza for the broadcast, the car has to release you earlier than 8. If you are timing the lighting itself, you still should not send the vehicle to the tree. The plaza is the viewing place. It is not a dependable curb. After lighting night, the tree stays on view into January. A later evening to see the tree is a quieter trip than December 2, but the plaza is still crowded and still needs its own door.

Rockefeller Center is in Midtown, with the viewing crowd gathered along the plaza rather than at a single passenger door. On lighting night the blocks beside the tree fill early. Choose a hotel entrance, an office lobby or an avenue corner several blocks from the plaza, then walk. Put that exact door on the reservation, with a mobile number for the person who will get out.

A landmark name is not enough. "Rockefeller Center" can mean several streets. If coats, a stroller or shopping bags are coming, say so, because the walk from the car is part of the arrival.
