Saks Light Show

Saks has not announced the 2026 light show dates. Last year the display ran from November 24 through early January, about every 10 minutes from about 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Use that only as a description of the prior season. It is not a 2026 timetable, and it should not be copied onto a reservation as if the dates were set.

Confirm the schedule with Saks before you lock a pickup time. If the show is dark on the evening you chose, a car to the facade will not create a performance. Book the vehicle for a date you have checked, and send a correction if Saks publishes a different window. The windows are on the Fifth Avenue facade of the Midtown flagship. Confirm the door you want with the store as well. A map pin on the building is not the same as a legal passenger curb at show time.

The light show plays to people standing on the Fifth Avenue sidewalk. There is no ticketed seat and no lobby call time in the way a theater has a curtain. That changes the car. You are being delivered to a crowded sidewalk, then picked up after you have watched one or two cycles, if last year's roughly 10-minute rhythm holds.

Do not plan for the chauffeur to hold the lane directly in front of the windows while you watch. At a busy hour the curb in front of a flagship display is not a waiting place. Choose a side-street or avenue corner a short walk away for the drop-off, watch the facade, and use a second corner for the pickup. Name both before you leave the hotel. Put a mobile number on the reservation for the person who will say when you are walking back.

If 2026 follows last year, the show is an evening event, about 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., not a midday stop. Until Saks confirms that, do not tell a passenger the lights will be on at 5. Last year's window is not this year's timetable.

A cycle of about 10 minutes, when that pattern is in effect, is a short viewing. You do not need a car held at the curb to watch it once. You do need a walk from a legal drop-off and a pickup off the densest part of the sidewalk. If you are flying in, settle the JFK terminal and the bags first. The light show is not a meeting point for an arriving flight.

The Saks facade is in the same Midtown stretch as Rockefeller Center. People often want both the windows and the tree on one evening. They are still two stops. The tree lighting on Wednesday, December 2, 2026 is its own event, with its own crowd and its own street restrictions, and it is not the Saks schedule. Do not assume the light show premieres on lighting night.

For a combined evening, list the order: which facade or plaza you want first, where you will stand, and which door the car should use afterward. Expect heavy foot traffic on Fifth Avenue whenever the displays are on. Drop off where a car can legally stop, even if that adds a short walk. A request to be left "right in front of Saks" will often be the one the street cannot honor.

A sedan is enough for two or three people who are stepping out to watch and getting back in. An SUV makes more sense if the party is larger or if you are carrying coats and shopping bags between the windows and a dinner. An S-Class starts at $230 an hour, with a three-hour minimum of $690, if you want that cabin for the evening. A Sprinter starts at $240 an hour, three hours from $720, when the group should stay together on the sidewalk and in the car. Confirm seats and bags either way.

Sedan hourly service starts at $120 and SUV hourly service starts at $150. Three hours starts at $360 and $450. Local point-to-point service starts at $130 for a sedan and $160 for an SUV. A stop at the light show is not automatically that minimum. The quote uses the addresses and the date. No flat display-night rate is published. Tolls and parking are additional when they apply.

Use a point-to-point transfer when the light show is a single stop on the way to a settled destination, or when you only need to be left near the windows and will arrange the next ride separately. The car leaves after the drop-off. Use hourly charter when you want dinner, the windows and the ride back with the same vehicle. The three-hour minimum applies to that hold.

Send the date you confirmed with Saks, both corners, the passenger count and anything you will be carrying. The booking page takes the request. The reservation is confirmed when the corners, the class and the price are written down. A published rumor of a start date is not confirmation, and neither is an unanswered request.
