Preventing NYC Airport Departure Problems
The most useful departure plan starts before the chauffeur arrives: confirm the flight, retrieve luggage and set a realistic ready-to-board time at the pickup entrance.

Failures that happen before the airport
Most missed departures are Manhattan-side, not curb-side.

The day before departure
Check the airport, flight date and airline’s recommended arrival time. Confirm the pickup address, entrance and passenger contact. List all bags and any extra stop; a forgotten collection point can change both the journey and quote.
Before the vehicle arrives
Finish checkout, collect stored bags and assemble the party indoors near the agreed entrance. Keep travel documents and essential items with the passenger. Tell the booking contact promptly if the group will not be ready, rather than waiting until the scheduled pickup time.
If a meeting runs over
Assess the airport plan as soon as the delay is known. Ask the coordinator which remaining stop can be removed and confirm any itinerary revision. A faster vehicle class cannot guarantee recovery of missed check-in time.
If the flight changes
Give the revised flight and terminal information to the booking team. Confirm the new pickup arrangement and any effect on charges or availability. A change in the airline app does not by itself update the car reservation.
Airline time, loading time, then the ride
Work backward. The airline’s recommended arrival at the airport is the target. In front of it sit loading, any extra stop, and the ride from the actual door. A published flight departure is later than that target. Using the departure timestamp as the pickup time is how people miss check-in.
International and domestic guidance differ by airline. Use the one on your ticket. If you are leaving from Brooklyn or New Jersey rather than a Manhattan hotel, say so. A Midtown habit will not fit those doors.

The reservation should say whether the car leaves. Decide that before the morning of the flight.
Do departure drop-offs use the JFK arrival lot?
Departing passengers can still be dropped at the departure terminal under the current Terminal 5 and 7 advisory. Do not send a departure to Howard Beach unless the airport instructs it.
