Terminal Changes and Wrong-Terminal Pickup Recovery

Use the current flight information and signs to identify the terminal where the passenger actually arrived. A flight or airline name alone may not settle the location. Tell the booking contact whether the change concerns the flight terminal, the passenger’s location or the vehicle meeting area.

Stay in a safe pedestrian area and describe a visible sign or landmark. Ask whether to wait there or move to a new confirmed location. Do not cross restricted lanes or assume an inter-terminal walk is permitted or practical with the luggage.

Pickup procedures are not interchangeable. JFK Terminal 5 and 7 car-service arrivals currently use Howard Beach via AirTrain under the ongoing advisory. LaGuardia has different locations at A, B and C. Confirm the correct instructions before starting another transfer between locations. At Newark, follow the ground-transportation signs for the actual arrival terminal and confirm the current meeting instructions.

Ask how the revised meeting arrangement affects waiting and availability. Notify an assistant or destination contact if an appointment is affected. Once a new plan is agreed, send the same instruction to everyone and retire the earlier meeting message.

At JFK, a move onto Terminal 5 or 7 can add the AirTrain and Howard Beach under the current advisory. At LaGuardia, a move from B to C changes a garage level into the arrivals inner lane. At Newark, use the new terminal’s own ground-transportation signs.

Send the operating flight again so the contact is not matching an old code. If part of the party followed the old pin, gather them before the car is placed. Two curbs and one vehicle is how people get left.
